Every day in the UK 11 babies are stillborn. In 50% of cases, such as ours, there is no reason as to why the baby has gone to sleep. They are often put down to a 'cord accident'. Sands' aims are to provide support to family and friends after a stillbirth or neonatal death. Without this support it would have been a massive struggle for us. This really has been the most difficult thing for us to ever deal with. They are also promoting research into stillbirths and neonatal deaths and changes in practice that could help to reduce the loss of babies' lives.
