Farewell to our little lady Amelie

On the Saturday after Amelie was born (5th May), we held a funeral service for Amelie. It was just myself, Sam and a Reverend from a local church. I never ever thought that I would be planning my baby's funeral. How cruel and unjust life can be. However, despite this, Sam and I were determined to give our little Amelie the farewell she so rightly deserved. During the almost 8 months that she was with us we totally fell in love with her and she will always be our first and eldest child who we will always treasure. We had a beautiful service- I read a poem, Sam wrote and read a poem, Amelie had a blessing and we prayed for her. We also chose a few songs which we felt were fitting for her- a beautiful version of Twinkle Twinkle little Star, I cried for you- Katie Melua and Somewhere over the Rainbow- Eva Cassidy. As we are not sure how long we will be living in Park City we decided to have Amelie cremated. We couldn't bear to move back to the UK and leave her on her own. We are going to scatter some of her ashes here in Park City and some in England when we are home at Christmas. The funeral service really helped Sam and I. We felt really peaceful and calm and were content that Amelie is at peace, sleeping tight and being looked after perfectly by Granny Martin.
